Ra's al Ghul card art

The final version of this one appeared in the Modern Masters book but I thought some of you might enjoy seeing the steps that got me there.

This piece is all about lighting. If you take away the shadows it's just a guy in a bathtub.

  1. Very true that lighting will make or break this drawing and as expected, you were able to pull this off without a hitch. Love the way you did use the pit itself as the light source. I'll go on the record and say I prefer the black and white finished version better than the colored version.

Still interested in the choice of the green colors though. Figured a redish/orange would have been an interesting take but you know, it all works. I'm the last to question a genius.

  2. I had a similar thought this morning when I was posting it. I don't know why I didn't use a red background. I think it would have been a lot more effective.

You say this like it's a bad thing.
